Hi. There’re two workshops will be held in klang valley, one is free of charge, while the other which is going to last for two days with rm 2o charge, just wonder what is the difference between these workshops? thanks
Cheow Ching, for the half-day one, it is targeted at those who are not sure about whether want to go studying in US. So, it covers why study in US and other topics listed there.
Whereas for the 2-day workshop, it would be focused in-depth on the actual applications processes.
Will there be any discussions on graduate admission?
PK, we would be focusing on undergraduate admission.
There are some components which would be similar, but the focus would be on undergraduate admission.
Which session that you are interested to know?
For the half-day workshop, we are talking about general US Education, life in US etc, so this would be relevant for graduate studies as well.
But for the 2-day workshop on 7th and 8th August, it would be focusing purely on undergraduate admission.
Thanks.
Btw, is there any transportation means provided?
such as bus shuttle, by lrt station or …
We would not be providing transport for the workshop, as we are just a bunch of volunteers sharing our experience of getting into top US universities.
For Taylor’s University College Lakeside Campus, you can see the map http://www.taylors.edu.my/about/popup/about_lakeside_taylors_map.html . It is quite near to Sunway Pyramid.
Hi~! Thank you so much for organizing this workshop.
I will like to attend both the workshop in Klang Valley. But for the US Applications:
Klang Valley ( 2 days), what will be covered in the workshop? Maybe a brief introduction? Is there a limit to number of participants?
Thank you.
Hi Lyisa,
For the 2-day workshop, we would be covering details on applications, from application essays, CVs/Resumes, teachers’ evaluations, common applications, early decision vs regular decision, interview, basic of SAT Reasoning Test and SAT Subject Tests, as well as intro to US education, liberal arts studies, financial aids etc.
The 2-day workshop is for those who are quite sure wanting to further studies to US, and look for detailed guidance to get into dream universities, whereas the half-day one is for those who are still unsure about studying in US, and want to know more.
We have a limit of 300 participants.
Thanks.
Greetings. 🙂
I would just like to know, will there be talks about scholarships as well during the workshop?
And is the admission to the colleges in the United states opened for pre-university courses as well?
Thank you in advance..:)
Hi Jasmin,
We would be covering about need blind scholarship, where for some of the top US universities, once you get admitted and your family income is below a certain threshold, you would be getting full financial aid.
Yes. Those of you who are doing preparatory program like A Level, International Baccalaureate, American Degree Foundation Program, STPM etc would be able to benefit from this workshop as well.
Thanks.
Im not an undergraduate. But i would like to sit for the 2 day workshop. not possible??
This seminar is in fact designed for secondary and pre-u students, not undergraduates. So yup, do sign up! 🙂
i’m currently sitting for SPM this year. would this workshop be kinda necessary for me? i’m quite interested though.
moe, if you dream and aspiration is to study in top US universities, you are definitely encouraged to attend the workshop. It would not help you for your SPM, but it would help you to start preparation towards getting into top US universities.
what about those who are interested to pursue studies for graduate program? is there any relevant information will be provided on that day?
Yes, we will share on grad school applications too on this half day workshop.
We won’t be covering grad school applications for the 2-day workshop on 7th and 8th August.
Hi, I would like to reserve a place for my parents and myself, 3 persons in total. Thank you.
Keep up the good work chenchow! 🙂
Hi Zi Wei, thanks for your interest in the workshop! Can you register for yourself and your parents at https://spreadsheets0.google.com/viewform?hl=en&formkey=dHhsWlBqT1hmV21BeWJsdkw4X0pJaXc6MQ#gid=0 ?
Thanks,
Ashley
Alright, thank you.
Hi! Just have a query, wound i get any further notification of confirmation on this workshop after i have completed the sign-up form and submitted it?
and, how do i know if i have been guaranteed or secured a place?
*sorry, just to add a “tick” at getting notification via email*
Hi! Just have a query, wound i get any further notification of confirmation on this workshop after i have completed the sign-up form and submitted it? and, how do i know if i have been guaranteed or secured a place?
We would email you to confirm within 1-2 days of you signing up on our form. Saw your name in both half day workshop sign up and also 2-day workshop sign up.
Thanks.
Hello.
I just submitted my registration. But I made a slight mistake about the ‘ticks’ section. So, can I submit another application?
Would it mess up your system if I do so?
Hi, do submit a new registration. Don’t worry about messing up our system. 🙂
Cheers,
Ashley
Thank you for your reply. I was so worried. Smiles!
Hi, I’ve submitted my form on Friday but I still haven’t get my confirmation mail. So, should I submit another form?
Hi, I’ve just checked. We do have you registered.
Thank you, so I don’t have to wait for the mail right?
A confirmation email will be sent (though we are running a little late recently as we are all busy), but it’s great that you are checking with us. 🙂
Hi. I would like to ask is there any place left for this workshop?
Hi Irene,
Yes, we do have places left. 🙂
I’m interested in the 2-day programme. If i plan to come with my parents, would they have to pay the RM 20 as well?
Hi Hema, thanks for your interest in the 2-day workshop. Unfortunately we strictly do not allow parents to attend the 2-day workshop. We would love to see you there though! 🙂
Cheers,
Ashley
i c…what about the half-day workshop? parents not allowed too? and do i need to register for it?
Hi Hema, parents are welcome for the half-day workshop! Do ask your parents to coming along if they too are interested in knowing more about the U.S. education options. 🙂
Yes, do sign up on your website. The link is on the right. >>>
Cheers,
Ashley
Oh no! Registration is closed! I had no idea we had to register online! I’m so sorry but do you really think we’ll be just allowed to walk in? Dang, me and my friend really really wanted to go for this? Are there absolutely no more spaces for registration left? If we go really early, do I have a better chance of entering? I don’t want to go for the 2 day workshop because I’m only in form 5, and i don’t want it to get too complicated.
Please, any helpful information would be appreciated.
Hi, you can definitely come! We allow walk-ins although our current registration number is rather huge, so we would give priority to those who have registered should the hall be overcrowded.
As for the 2-day workshop, it would actually be a great idea if you attend it. The earlier you start preparing for the US application process, the better since you have more time to research on the process and start thinking about your essays. A lot of students do in fact start preparing since Form 4 or Form 5.
ah okay (: thanks! will go super early to lessen the chance of getting kicked out XD
